Manchester United kicked off their campaign in the Europa League on Thursday night at Old Trafford stadium, falling to Real Sociedad by a score of 1-0. The game began with a moment of silence in remembrance of Queen Elizabeth II of England, who passed away earlier that day at the age of 96. She is widely regarded as one of the world’s most respected individuals. As a result of her unexpected passing, European football and UEFA expressed their thanks as well as their condolences for her Majesty.

A questionable penalty kick taken by Baris Mendez in the 59th minute resulted in a goal for Real Sociedad, which helped them win the match. Even though Manchester United had possession of the ball for 56% of the game, it did not help them win the game against Real Sociedad.

After their game against Brentford on August 13, in which they were defeated by a score of 4-0, Erik ten Hag felt a deep sense of despondency and hopelessness. Because of the match, he decided to picked  up Cristiano Ronaldo against Real Sociedad on Thursday, despite the fact that Ronaldo had been rested for the previous encounter against Brentford.

In the 36th minute of the game, Cristiano Ronaldo gave it his all to score a goal with his head, but the referee blew the offside flag. The fact that he didn’t score a single goal this season was a major source of frustration for him. It’s not really that important, but he couldn’t give his team the victory they needed.

The match between Manchester United and Crystal Palace, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday and was part of the Premier League, has been postponed out of respect for the late Queen Elizabeth II. Manchester United will play their second encounter against Sheriff in the Europa League on September 15, Thursday, at 10.45 p.m., at the Bolshaya Sportivnaya Arena stadium.
